Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum can keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency at which you'll need to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, has the ability to clean corners and stairs and also has a large bin that only needs to be cleaned out every now and then.
There are also models that clean and charge on their own which can be beneficial for those with pets or children. The top performers in our tests also have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good alternative for those who want a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot when it is full.

Both robots excel at picking up surface debris on hard floors and carpets, and they are very good in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. The i3+ doesn't feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested. It may be stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they aren't clogged by dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and takes the dirt out of the docking station's external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it began. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to charge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can direct your robot using the app or by voice.
The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. robotvacuummops over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin that eliminates the main sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car that is amidst a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households and can fit perfectly next to the table for a coffee or a bookshelf that you can spin around like an enchanted device.
The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery, which produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes to meet the task being performed. It quickly switches from handheld to floor vacuum and back.
This model has an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also offers easy access to 2 attachments and the Wand. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. Its claims on the market that it can provide up to 60 minutes of running time are not true as CR's tests have shown. This is a common battery-powered vacuum's run time. That's still enough run time to clean most of a typical-sized home but not long enough to cover every area (though the second time around usually does the trick). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is significantly better on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of the most well-known robot vacuums The 694 is an entry-level model that's a great choice for people who don't want to spend too much on a robotic. It could pick up the majority of types of debris in our testing and often went over the same area multiple times for an efficient clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it isn't equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, such as our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It may get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and will often run out of power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects in that it has fewer components that need regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at maneuvering itself. It also has a larger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, as it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter the suction power mode by hand and has physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy and has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on bare floors and low-pile carpet, while providing a greater variety of automation options.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app offers a variety of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification docking frequency settings and much more. The app is easy to navigate and use similar to other Samsung devices.
In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well with higher-up objects like cords or socks, which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we tried, which might be a problem for some buyers.
The app lets you access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature allows you to monitor your children or pets when you're away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for a quick, painless clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with self-emptying clean stations, which helps to keep the bin clean and improves suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Unlike other robotic vacuums, that are made for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They have a wider cleaning path and a larger dust bin that can hold 2X more debris than competitors to keep the area clean for the longest time. They also include two side sweepers that can be used to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level based on whether it is cleaning up dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you see the virtual map and control functions and schedules. You can also check the vacuum's status and send it to the dock for charging with the touch of a single button. The app allows you to modify the LEDs on the top of the vacuum so that you can tell where it is focused or if it's stuck.
The app also makes it simple to steer the robot manually in the event of need. My living room rug for example has a dark-colored border that can trip up some other robots. However the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, but it didn't register it as an incline. Also, the ability to create a weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
